Master Center for Addiction Medicine Hosts Free Family Education Webinar

Master Center is proud to host our Family Education Webinar tonight, Thursday, February 24, featuring leaders in addiction medicine. If you are concerned that someone you love has a substance use issue, would like continued education on the disease of addiction and how it affects the family, or just need support as you navigate through the recovery process, we invite you to be a part of our lecture series. This evening we will present “The Science of Addiction” by Jessica Bardenheier, MS., LPC, an Outpatient Addiction Therapist at Master Center for Addiction Medicine. Following Jessica’s presentation, “Boundaries” will be presented by Peter Pennington, LPC, a treatment placement specialist with Acadia Healthcare.

As many of our patients and partners know, Jessica is a passionate about making addiction treatment accessible, understandable, and affordable to all. In her role as an Outpatient Addiction Therapist at Master Center she treats a range of substance use and other addictive disorders in conjunction with co-occurring mental health issues. Additional areas of focus within Jessica’s scope of practice include trauma-informed women’s recovery and providing group and individual therapy services for patients in Virginia’s Health Practitioner’s Monitoring Program. She is an active member of the Virginia Counselors Association, National Association for Addiction Professionals, and the Virginia Association of Addiction Professionals. Jessica is passionate about the de-stigmatization of addiction and mental health issues and is committed to progressing the field toward greater outcomes in recovery through psychoeducation, community engagement, research, and professional development for counselors.

Peter Pennington, LPC, will join Jessica this evening as a guest speaker during our family support program. Peter is a treatment placement specialist with Acadia Healthcare representing Eastern Virginia. He has executive, business development, clinical, admissions, and utilization management experience in the substance use disorder field. Peter’s passion lies in helping those in need from a clinical and personal perspective.
