Program Descriptions

Substance Abuse Assessment
This low-cost assessment is billed to the patient’s insurance. It leverages bio-psycho-social elements to determine if an individual meets diagnostic criteria for substance dependence or substance use disorder and whether or not treatment is recommended.

Addiction Medicine Consultation
Initial medical consultation/evaluation to determine substance use severity and further treatment recommendations.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Uses medication (Buprenorphine, Naltrexone, etc.) prescribed by addiction medicine providers to help patients stabilize and stop abusing substances. The MAT program follows a phase system to help the patient navigate their medically managed recovery experience.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
ASAM level 2.1 service for individuals in need of a higher level of care, not experiencing severity that would warrant inpatient treatment. The IOP may be used as step down model from inpatient/detox programs or as a step-up program from outpatient treatment. The IOP program meets 4 times per week, engaging the patient in 3-hour intensive group therapy sessions, for 6 weeks (24 sessions total). Master Center offers morning or evening groups, in addition to the option to engage virtually or in person.

Outpatient/Ambulatory Detox
A program that focuses on initial stabilization and combines medically-managed withdrawal with a program of education about addiction and recovery.

Addiction Psychiatry
Known as a dual diagnosis, substance abuse often co-occurs with mental health issues. Gain access to psychiatric treatment by medical providers trained in addiction medicine and mental health while receiving personalized treatment for substance use disorder.

FAQs for Probation & Parole Officers

What happens after I send the referral form?
The intake team at Master Center will attempt to contact your client to schedule an appointment. We use every form of contact available to us, including phone, text, and email. We will make multiple attempts each week for 3 weeks.

How does the Substance Use Assessment work?
Your client will speak with a trained clinician to evaluate the presence of substance use disorder and the recommendation for addiction treatment. With the appropriate ROI in place, the assessments and recommendations will be sent directly to you, the officer. Most of the time, you will receive the results of the assessment within 3 days after the appointment, and appointments are typically available within 24 to 48 hours of the patient intake call.

This appointment will be billed to the client’s insurance. Medicaid covers this appointment in full.

What happens when my client becomes a patient?
If the client becomes a patient, they will be paired with a medical provider, a peer recovery coach, and placed into group therapy. Depending on their personal treatment plan, the client may also have appointments with a psychiatric provider or receive individual therapy. For all updates, the client’s coach should be your primary point of contact.

Why haven’t I heard anything about my client?
Most often, this happens because Master Center does not have an active ROI on file. Sometimes, the client chooses not to sign or does not check the box allowing their Officer to receive updates. Or, the ROI might have expired. If this happens, we can tell you NOTHING about your client. We cannot tell you whether or not the client is a patient and we cannot tell you about the status of the ROI.

Please email partners@mastercenter.com. The Master Center team will provide information if we are allowed to share it. If you hear nothing, check with the client about their ROI status.

Do you offers services beyond MAT?
Absolutely! Master Center provides patients with wrap-around services based on their individual needs. Fully integrated services include group and individual therapy, addiction psychiatry, outpatient alcohol detox, and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Additionally, patients have access to our team of healthcare navigators to help reduce treatment barriers such as access to housing, food, child care, job placement or training, and more.

Does Master Center treat only Opioid Use Disorder?
Master Center offers addiction treatment for pretty much any substance. The majority of our patient populations is comprised of either opioids or alcohol use disorder. But we regularly treat patients whose substance of choice is marijuana, amphetamines, cocaine, benzodiazepines, kratom, and more.
