Addiction is a chronic disorder that can often have fatal outcomes without the proper treatment. At Master Center in Chesterfield, VA, we provide various recovery services designed to offer continuous support. There is no single treatment for managing substance abuse, which is why our services provide a multidisciplinary approach to recovery.

Coming to terms with your or your loved one’s substance use and reaching out for help is the first crucial step. We can get our patients the support and specialized treatment they need to recover from there.

One of the key services we offer in Richmond’s souths side is our intensive outpatient program

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a type of treatment that provides care similar to what is typically offered in an inpatient setting but on an outpatient basis. This flexibility means that patients in our IOP can continue living at home and going to work or school while receiving the necessary care and support.

In general, IOPs provide services for patients who do not need round-the-clock monitoring but who would benefit from more frequent care than what is typically available in traditional outpatient programs.

At Master Center, our IOP meets multiple days per week for a few hours at a time. This schedule works to allow our patients to continue to live their lives while receiving the care and support they need to recover.

Why Choose Our IOP?

We have over a century of experience providing services to individuals with substance use disorders, so you can trust us to offer the best possible care.

Our IOP offers a multifaceted service. No two patients are the same, so their treatment won’t be either. Our Chesterfield center focuses on long-term results to help you or your family members create a higher life quality.

The IOP achieves this by putting the individual first. We don’t believe in blanket treatment with a one-size-fits-all approach. The IOP is an individualized service designed to meet the needs of all who enroll, regardless of their background or specific situation.

Our Chesterfield, Virginia IOP service achieves this through evidence-based medical treatment, counseling, and advanced toxicology for all of our patients.

How Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Can Help

There are multiple stages in our IOP service. The program lasts for eight weeks but works to provide results for years to come. It provides the tools our patients need to effectively manage their disorder while in the program and throughout their lives afterward.

Biopsychosocial Assessment

In the first stage of the IOP service, we offer a full assessment to understand each patient’s behavioral health and specific needs. It relies on three aspects relating to biology, psychology, and social abilities. It may involve diving deeper into family history about substance use and questions regarding self-image. The completed assessment allows us to create a fully individualized service plan.

Group Therapy

Following the biopsychosocial assessment and the construction of an individual plan, group therapy will commence. These three-hour sessions are held four times per week. Group sessions are a valuable and integral part of our Master Center treatment program. It allows patients to explore their feelings in a comfortable environment while developing empathy for those who struggle with similar experiences.

Individual Therapy

In addition to group sessions, individual sessions play a huge role in recovery. Our highly trained therapists can monitor specific goals outlined in a patient’s individualized plan, providing guidance where necessary. These sessions may also encourage family participation and further referrals for psychiatric or medical needs.

Outpatient or Community-Based Care

As the eight-week program continues, patients may be able to move to regular outpatient or community-based care, depending on their progression. They are then given more freedom over the frequency of sessions, both group and individual, to meet their personal needs better. We believe individual customization of service plans in this way encourages patients to meet their own goals independently.

How Our Intensive Outpatient Program is Different

There are numerous rehabilitation programs available, so how can you be sure that our IOP is the best choice? There are a variety of reasons that make Master Center’s IOP stand out compared to others, including:

  • Emphasis on individuality: No addiction is the same, so no recovery is the same either. We take this firmly into account when designing personalized recovery programs. Our medical professionals can alter a person’s recovery plan as they progress to meet their specific needs constantly.
  • Specific targeted goals: Everyone assigns themselves goals and consistently reviews them. The eventual outcome of these goals is to instill a deep understanding within the patient of the problems that cause their substance abuse. It provides them with effective frameworks to modify their behavior in the long term, not just during their program attendance.
  • Lifelong coping mechanisms: Our IOP provides a lifelong roadmap for managing substance misuse-related symptoms, establishing a solid support network of family and friends, and recognizing problematic thoughts and how to remedy them without relapsing.

Our approach is multidisciplinary and specifically designed to instill better habits for life, not just for the immediate future.
